Commonly known as “Watsie” Mark is a very good club supporter, he competes all season long in road races and time trials. His strength for sure is in time trials as he is a regular club tester and is also another well known face at the Cycling Ulster Dave Kane league. He’s no slouch neither with a low 58 minute 25mile tt and a low 22 minute 10mile tt this season. Mark has yet to miss a club social event whether it is quiz night or a weekend away he is there, ‘a true club man’.

We would all be lost without Paul on a Sunday run, who would do all the shouting and moaning :) Joking aside Paul is always at a club event somewhere, either racing, marshalling and even time keeping. When he puts his head and legs together he can put in some good times on club events and hasn’t gone a season without doing a couple of open races. He finished 24th in this years Ards 3 day with very little racing miles in his legs and is rarely outside the top six in any club time trial he enters.

Connor has impressed in his first year of competitive cycling with the club. He finished 11th in the All Ireland Under 15 Championships. He already has displayed the ability to be a strong all round rider. Conor is the tallest of the 'Regent House Clan'.

Club chairman since 1991 Bobby is always there - at meetings dinners, races etc. It seems like he has marshalled the turn of every time trial for the last few years. Bobby also competed in races until the early nineties. He was a regular competitor in the Isle of Man bike week along with John Stewart and Bob Hill (VC Bangor).

Bronagh organised the 'Get in Gear' series for beginers for seven years. She is now active on the club commitee and is assistant treasurer. Always willing to help in any way and very much got the Portaferry 3 day up and running. Photographed with her two sons-Ryan Edgar(L) and Dylan Edgar(R)

This man is a living legend. Charlie was a cycle racing champion in the 1930s and 40s on track and road racing. He was a founder member of the Ards CC and is still present at events helping out marshalling etc. Never one to "blow his own trumpet" he is a very humble man and always puts others first. A real champion on and off the bike!

Janine joined Ards CC last year and immediately became a very active member. She has marshalled at almost every race. She has also been a great team supporter (out at all the opens cheering the boys on). She then became Alastair's (Martin) 'right hand man' and helped with administration and the website and generally anywhere she was needed. Janine is a very pleasant fun loving person and just to add the final touch to her club support she will become Alastair's 'first lady' in September 2003. Congratulations to Alastair and Janine. Ards CC website are hoping to get the rights to the first wedding photos.

John is the club treasurer, a post he has held for over ten years. His annual report is immaculate. He also keeps time at the club events. When he first joined Ards in 1989 he was a regular competitor but his official duties have taken over. Perhaps we will see him "throw the leg over" this year?

Ronnie is another solid supporter of the club. He keeps time at most of the club events and is a great man for meetings with his calming influence and diplomacy. He was a keen touring cyclist and a regular on the old Sunday 2pm club run.
