SEASON STARTS
|
Photo - New club member John Brown sports Ards CC colours! at his first race of the season in Newry last Sunday.
The road racing season began on Saturday 27th February with the Annaclone Grand Prix. Last Sunday the Newry Club held the John Haldane Memorial Race at Newry. The main race was held on the flat carriageway course and it ended with a big bunch sprint won by Jason Henry. Ards Lads Mark Watson and John Brown finished in the leading bunch after a very fast 60 miles. The A4 category race also finished with a mass sprint with Banbridge comeback rider Terry Mackin winning his second race of the season ahead of East Antrim Veteran Gary Wilson, who won our Tour of Ards way back in 1978! Ards CC’s schoolboy rider Ian Inglis did really well to finish with the pack in his first longer race.
